Required Qualifications

The position requires at least a Bachelor’s degree and at least three years of prior-related work experience. The position requires at least a High School diploma or GED equivalent if substituting experience for education. Technical certification and/or licensure also may be required for some programs.

Job Description

The position organizes, schedules, coordinates and monitors a PSAV program to ensure effective operations and activities in compliance with state and federal standards and guidelines. In addition, provides instruction for certain programs, prepares required reports, and maintains records.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer applicants with: (1) Florida Fire Fighter II Certification, (2) Florida Fire Instructor I, II or III Certification, (3) Florida Live Fire Instructor Certification, (4) Florida or National Registry Paramedic Certification, (5) progressive supervisory experience, (6) proven skills in long-range planning, logistics, budgeting, problem-solving, multi-tasking, public speaking, report writing, records management and using computer software programs such as Microsoft Office products.

Supplemental Job Information

This position plans, schedules and coordinates training classes, instructors, facilities and equipment for a state certified Fire Academy. Additional duties include: (1) coordinating vehicle and equipment maintenance, (2) ordering training supplies, (3) supervising fire fighting cadets and instructors, (4) administering standardized exams, (5) records management, (6) budgeting, (7) monitoring federal, state and local laws and training standards to ensure compliance and (8) interacting with state and local officials.
