Job Description

Performs direct teaching and demonstration of EMS skills and facilitates hands-on learning, in either a laboratory or clinical setting as appropriate to the position. Evaluates and provides feedback to students, as appropriate; through the use of student interaction and demonstration. Instructs students on the most current DOT curriculum as approved by the Florida Bureau of EMS and under the direction of the EMS Programs Medical Director as appropriate including: patient assessment and treatment of a variety of medical and trauma emergencies and in the use and care of a broad range of emergency patient care equipment. Ensures adherence to established College, Departmental and Program policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, and safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer applicants with: (1) at least an Associate’s degree in Emergency Medical Services or a related field from a regionally accredited educational institution, (2) AHA ACLS and PALS Instructor certification (applicants must obtain the certification within six months of hire), (3) knowledge of EMT/ Paramedic theory and practice, (4) knowledge of the operation and maintenance of a range of emergency medical equipment, (5) the ability to assess student performance and to provide appropriate feedback, and (6) the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

Supplemental Job Information

Emergency Medical Services will be filling vacancies as they arise from this applicant pool. Applicants must: (1) provide letters of recommendation from EMS agency’s Medical Director and Supervisor or Chief of Training, (2) take a comprehensive written evaluation based on the most current DOT curriculum for EMT-B and paramedic which is approved by the College’s EMS Programs Medical Director. In addition, applicants need to have the ability to travel to clinical practicum sites at community agencies.

Additional Documents Required

Applicants must submit a copy of their diploma or transcript showing at least the minimum qualifications, a paramedic certificate and a current CPR or ACLS provider card at the time of application. If selected for an interview, applicants must bring an original transcript to the interview showing the awarding of the required degree. If the transcript has not been updated to show the awarding of the required degree, applicants must bring written documentation from the educational institution showing when the degree was awarded.
